What in the world is this? I have about 70 gigabytes of pdf's of magazines, and another 300 pounds of paper hanging out in the garage. When it comes time to look up a project that I remember reading about, I go a little crazy trying to find it. So this is me scratching an itch. This is a way to enter the details about those magazines in such a way as to make them searchable. Isn't this all digital now anyway? You'd think so, right? Well, for a handful of magazines, the answer is yes. For a hefty fee, you can get all back issues of the magazine on DVD, and it usually includes a utility to search the archive. That's great, as long as no more magazines are being produced. What happens when the article you're looking for happens to be in this month's issue? But for the vast majority of magazines, no such index exists, with data that is relevant to us. (Sure there's a library system that covers many national magazines, but it doesn't cover many craft-type magazines, nor is it comprehensive.) I don't do woodworking, why should I care? Nothing says this has to be exclusively about woodworking. That's just my particular itch. Perhaps it's sewing patterns. Or garden planting guides. Or deck building plans. It's up to you to decide what subjects are tracked. If you keep magazines to refer to them later, I can add categories for whatever you'd like to track. Just hit the 'Contact Us' link below.
